Laying a New Mains Water Pipe

I needed to replace the water service pipe. I had needed to cut the old one when I built the pillar and it would have been hard to easily re-route the existing one to where it needed to go once the extension was built.

I dug out to fit a conduit under the floor. It was a pain in the ****

I dug a trench outside and eventually managed to meet up with the hole I had dug inside.

I checked with Building Control about regulations for insulation / conduit size. They told me that they do not govern these matters and it was a matter for the local water board. I spoke to the water board; as there were no complications, they suggested I fit a 25mm MDPE pipe within a conduit so that it could be removed easily if necessary.

I fitted the conduit with a cable inserted, which I later used to pull the pipe through. You will never manage to push a pipe through, so I was pleased I had had the foresight to have the cable in place to pull.
